Product 1: Purple Hands Planta Circa Ancestor Vine Shiraz
Unique Selling Proposition
Purple Hands wines is a boutique wine label from the southern Barossa Valley. Our Planta Circa Shiraz is sourced from a vineyard over 130 years old. For this small batch wine, 10% of the fruit was tipped into a concrete open fermenter with the balance destemmed and lightly crushed on top and was seeded using a neutral yeast. Temperatures were allowed to reach 28C with header boards allowing gentle extraction. After 8 days on skins the fruit was basket pressed and transferred into 33% new French oak (1 x 500lt ) with the balance into 1-4 year old French oak hogsheads to undergo malo-lactic fermentation. After malo-lactic fermentation SO2 was added to the barrels, the wine was then left on light lees to mature for 8 months before racking, the wine was then transferred back to the same oak and matured for another 9 months. No fining used at bottling.

Product 3: Purple Hands Wines Mataro Grenache Shiraz
Unique Selling Proposition
Purple Hands wines is a boutique wine label from the southern Barossa Valley. This is a blend of 3 classic Barossa varieties, Mataro, Grenache and Shiraz with Mataro being the dominant variety. The Mataro and Grenache were hand picked with the Shiraz machine picked. All parcels were fermented separately allowing blending multiple options. All three varieties were fermented in open fermenters, up to 20% whole clusters were used in the Mataro and 25% in the Grenache with 5% in the Shiraz. The Grenache and Shiraz were fermented in concrete open fermenters with header boards allowing minimal pump over. The Mataro was in smaller open fermenters and hand plunging 3 times daily. After 8 days on skins for the Shiraz, 10 days for the Grenache and Mataro the wines were basket pressed and transferred into older French hogsheads and puncheons to undergo malo-lactic fermentation. The wines were then left on lees to mature for 11 months before careful blending. No fining used.
