The Virgara family and their passion for wine is creating a new taste sensation - the blending of Italian wine making tradition with the distinctive flavour of the Adelaide Plains. Angle Vale has been home to Virgara Wines for over 50 years. With its mild climate and rich soil, it was the natural place for the Virgara family to establish their winery.

| The Virgara Wines range features fruit from our family estate vineyards on the Adelaide Plains at Angle Vale. Cool winter weather with moderate rainfall usually followed by mild springs with complimentary rain showers and ripening in warm to hot summers. The grapes for our Family range of wines were grown in the Angle Vale region, cropped at 7 tonnes per hectare. A traditional sprawling canopy is used to counter the hot weather during the ripening season. The grapes were crushed, and fermented on skins for 7 days. The ferment started at 15 degrees Celsius and rose to a peak of 26 degrees Celsius. The cap was pumped over twice daily for a total of 30 minutes. The wine was pressed and then put to a mix of new and 2 year old oak barrels for 18 months of maturation. | |

| Tasting note | Deep crimson in colour wih aromas of earth, spice, tar and dense berry fruits. The palate is rich and savoury, filled with fresh, peppery blackberry flavours and plump earthy tannins, leading to a lovely long finish with beautiful oak balance. |

| Tasting note | Pale straw in colour with a soft green hue. The nose carries distinctive Sauvignon Blanc notes with highlights of citrus and passionfruit. The tropical fruit characters flow seamlessly over the palate, which is vibrant, intense and zesty. This is a perfect Sauvignon Blanc to drink with fresh seafood. |

| Tasting note | This interesting blend provides varietal definition alongside complex raspberry flavours, infused with earthy aromas, and underpinned with hints of vanilla and coffee notes. Smooth and seamless in style and substance, with vibrancy, generosity and characteristic Cabernet Sauvignon flavour. Maturation in French oak brings inviting berry accents to the palate. The wine is well-balanced, with soft powdery tannins giving a fullness to the mid palate, and a persistent, enjoyable finish. This wine would be a perfect match to braised lamb shanks. |
